Mandazi in Kenya are valued and loved, people think making them is hard but its easy since I am here to help you. Below is a recipe to help you make a delicious mandazi.
INGREDIENTS(preparation time is 2hrs)
COCONUT MILK(warm) 1 1/4 cup
SUGAR 1/2 cup
COOKING OIL 1tbs
FLOUR 3 cups
CARDAMOM POWDER 1tbs
METHOD (serves 4)
1: put the coconut milk in a bowl and add sugar
2: add cooking oil.
3: add yeast to to the mixture and stir well to mix.
4: let it rest for 5 minutes.
5: put the flour in a different bowl and add cardamom powder
6: mix well ten add the coconut mixture and knead for 8 – 10 minutes.
7: cover and rest to proof for 45 minutes.
1: one the time elapsed put a pan with oil in it on medium heat until hot
2: cut the dough into small round pieces
3: roll them into a circle flat shape and cut the shape into four quarters
4: put the quarters into the hot oil and allow one side to cook until golden brown
5: turn the other side to cook as well, do the same for the remaining dough.
